I am currently a first-year PhD student in Dr. Alison Gould’s lab in the Department of Biology at Temple University. My research focuses on understanding the mechanisms that drive animal-microbe symbioses, using the Siphamia-Photobacterium partnership as a model system. Specifically, I am studying how Photobacterium colonization affects Siphamia at the genetic level by examining shifts in host gene expression in response to bacterial presence. By understanding the molecular mechanisms behind these dynamics, I hope to shed more light on the importance of microbial symbioses on animal host development and adaptability.
